[EMP] Mingling at SDCC 2011

For my first year at Comic Con International in San Diego, I would have to say it was nothing shy of overwhelming and successful.  It was a great place to meet new people, make some new business contacts, and ultimately have a blast.  Thankfully, I was able to take away some useful legal tidbits from one of the panels I attended along with the opportunity to speak with some really awesome artists.

One mishap was that due to lack of familiarity with the abundance of activity going on, I forgot to actually get some stand alone Enforcer costume pictures.  It didn’t help that there were some restrictive weapon guidelines preventing accurate costume portrayal, but that should be rectified at another convention coming soon.

Time has evaded me. I didn’t realize how long it had been since I last posted an update.  Have I been plugging along?  Yep, at the excessively extreme snails pace.  I’ll be sure to do a page count update soon.

This post does not come without some Big News! First Official EMP Character Reveal at a  media event!  I’ve dusted off The Enforcer costume and will be sporting it one of the days at San Diego Comic Con while networking, hanging out and having fun.  Pictures likely to follow!

[EMP] Merry Christmas to All!

I hope that this holiday is one of deep significance for everyone. Regardless of its current cultural original, I hope it can be a time of spiritual reflection, relaxation and time with family and friends.

It has indeed been a while since my last update here. Life seems to keep getting in the way, but things are still in the works. There has been much to learn this year, and much more still ahead. I have had opportunity to make more awesome friends this year, travel, and gain more business insights. I will still have a lot on my plate to learn about legal stuff, networking and outright time management, but I wouldn’t have made it this far without God’s blessing.

Writing progress is plugging along, so I will be updating the page count. Hopefully, 2011 will offer some accelerated progress as the second book heads into the ending chapters.

[EMP] The Long Road

It has once again reached the stage that in spite of my best intentions and fluctuating energy levels I find myself distracted from my primary focus… writing.  I hoped that in my former state of creativity I would have been able to keep up with writing some documents related to what I’ve learned through studying existing films, games and other pieces of media to serve as a reference, only to find myself expending valuable energy on crafting a well formed document instead of putting my emphasis on the current critical project, the novels.

The natures of independent business can be rigorous with the responsibilities of juggling resources, talent, time management and life.   I’m making a renewed effort to stay focused on the most pressing phase of novel writing, but there will be some networking opportunities coming up over the next year via Comic Conventions and some other social events.  For now, I’m putting reference material on the back burner to keep the novels moving forward.

Next up: Dragon Con Atlanta, September 2010

[EMP] Upcoming Events for May 2010

I’m finally starting to understand how important and awesome networking is.   Thanks to a friend’s suggestion I had got myself to the Penguicon.  Having not been before I did not realize what kind of resources I would find.  My initial impression was that it was primarily geared towards technical outlets, but I was surprised to find resources and information for writing and graphics as well.   May will prove to be a busy and hopefully productive month since EMP will be attending the Motor City Comic-Con in Novi and the 2010 Interfaces Conference in Troy.
